Smog Check Questions

What is a Test-Only station?

A Test-Only station is licensed by the California Bureau of Automotive Repair to perform emissions testing only. We do not perform repairs, which ensures unbiased testing results.

How often do I need a smog check?

In California, most vehicles need a smog check every two years. New vehicles are exempt for the first six years, after which biennial smog checks are required.

What should I bring for a smog check?

Bring your vehicle registration or renewal notice, and payment. Make sure your vehicle has been warmed up before the test for optimal results.

What if my vehicle fails the smog check?

If your vehicle fails, we'll provide a detailed report explaining why. You can take it to a licensed repair facility for repairs. After repairs, you can return for a free retest within 30 days.

How does the retest process work?

If your vehicle fails and you get it repaired within 30 days, we offer a free retest. Just bring your original failed test report and repair receipts. The retest follows the same process as the initial test.
